Husband of actress Clara Bow who was a western movie star in how own right. He was also the 21st Lieutenant Governor of Nevada from 1955 to 1962.
His first on-screen role was in the 1929 John Ford film Salute, about the Army-Navy football game.
He and his wife opened the Walking Box Ranch, a 600+ mile estate that they used to entertain the who's who of Hollywood elite.
He was married to Clara Bow for more than thirty years, until her death.
He was in the 1961 film The Misfits, starring Marilyn Monroe.
