His father organized the first ever Rio de Janeiro Jiu-Jitsu tournament.
His brother, Royce Gracie, became an Ultimate Fighting Championship participant.
His father is Helio Gracie and his uncle is Carlos Gracie. He was raised with five siblings, Rorion, Royce, Rolls and Rolker. He has five children, Kailani, Karina, Rishna, Rhalan, and Ka'ena.
He and Arnold Schwarzenegger co-founded the Arnold-Gracie World Submission Championships in Jiu-Jitsu in 2000.
