Feminist writer and activist notable for winning the Women of Distinction Award from the American Association of University Women. Her books include To Be Real: Telling the Truth and Changing the Face of Feminism and What Makes A Man: 22 Writers Imagine the Future.
She graduated cum laude from Yale University in 1992 and founded a non-profit organization to register voters.
She won the Feminist of the Year Award from the Fund for the Feminist Majority.
She was raised by her parents in New York and San Francisco. Her mother, Alice Walker, is also a their author. Walker has a son, Tenzin, with her partner Glen.
