Mexican MLB infielder best known for his time with the New York Yankees, with whom he played from 2009 to 2012. He won his first World Series with the team in 2009, defeating the Philadelphia Phillies in six games.
He played in the Mexican League until 2005, when he was drafted into the Yankees farm system.
He underwent an emergency appendectomy during the 2011 season.
His father was in the stands to watch Pena hit his first major league home run in September 2009.
He and Yovani Gallardo were both members of the Mexican team which played in the 2013 World Baseball Classic.
