His acting career started on television in 2001 when he starred in the series Companeros. His film debut came in 2003 when he starred in Los abajo firmantes.
He is known for having won multiple Goya Awards including for Best New Director and Best Original Screenplay in 2017 for Tarde para la ira. He is also known for having won in 2010 for his supporting role in the film Gordos.
He was born and raised in Mostoles, Spain and is known for having dated Melina Matthews.
He starred in the film Summer Rain where he worked with director Antonio Banderas and starred alongside Fran Perea.
