Member of the Japanese imperial family. She went viral in 2004 after images of her in sailor fuku were uploaded to the internet. The Japanese imperial household admitted they were unsure how to handle the situation, as it had never happened before and included no disrespect against the princess. She has attended official royal events since 2011. She worked for a time as a researcher for the University of Tokyo museum.
She received a BA in Art and Cultural Heritage from International Christian University in Tokyo. She later studied at the University of Leicester, where she received an MA in Art Museum and Gallery Studies.
She studied English for a year in Dublin, Ireland.
She is the first born daughter of Princess Kiko and Prince Fumihito. Her sister is Princess Kako and her younger brother is Prince Hisahito. Akihito and Empress Michiko are her grandparents. She is engaged to be married on October 26, 2021. Her fiance, Kei Kamuro, received a law degree from Fordham University. The princess is expected to live in the U.S. with her husband.
Princess Eugenie also worked in the gallery and art industry.
