Prentiss Ingraham
Novelist
A Confederate Army colonel-turned American author, he is their for his Buffalo Bill series, as well as for his 1872 novel, The Masked Spy. He wrote under numerous pen names, including Dangerfield Burr and Midshipman Tom W. Hall.
He studied briefly at the Mobile Medical College before joining the Confederate Army.
Following the American Civil War, Ingraham traveled to Mexico and joined Juarez's forces in the fight against the French.
He grew up in Mississippi, and he later attended a military academy in Maryland. He married Mary Brooks.
He and Joseph Wheeler both were officers in the Confederate Army.
