Pier Luigi Nervi
Engineer
Italian engineer best known for his contributions to structural engineering via the use of reinforced concrete. He is responsible for renowned structures like The Pirelli Tower in Milan.
He attended the University of Bologna and became a professor of engineering at Rome University in 1946.
He has been awarded Gold Medals by the Institution of Structural Engineers, the American Institute of Architects, and the Royal Institute of British Architects.
He had a son named Antonio.
He collaborated with American architect Pietro Belluschi on the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption in San Francisco, California.
