Philip Tartaglia

In 2012, this Roman Catholic religious leader was installed as the Archbishop and Metropolitan of Glasgow, Scotland. Previously, he had served as Bishop of Paisley.
He studied at St Vincent's College, Langbank; St Mary's College, Blairs; the Pontifical Scots College; and the Pontifical Gregorian University.
In 2012, he was criticized by the press for his allegedly insensitive and homophobic comments regarding the early death of a gay politician.
Raised in Scotland as a member of a family of Italian heritage, he was one of nine children born to Annita and Guido Tartaglia.
He and Anglican bishop John Howe both became high-ranking religious leaders in Scotland.
