Former Intercosmos research cosmonaut who was the first Vietnamese citizen in space.
He was a fighter pilot in the Vietnam War and fought against the U.S.
He was also the first non-Russian Asian to fly into space.
He married and had one child.
He was born in North Vietnam while Ho Chi Minh was president.
