NASA engineer and prolific inventor who created the digital wristwatch.
He studied electrical engineering in Stuttgart, Germany.
His prototype digital watch, called the Pulsar, went on sale in 1971 and was priced at $2,100.
He married Helen Philips Petroff in 1909.
Wernher von Braun recruited him to work on the Apollo space program.
