Hungarian Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church who was appointed as the Archbishop of Esztergom-Budapest in 2002.
He received doctorates in theology and canon law from the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome.
He was a cardinal elector in the 2005 papal conclave that selected Pope Benedict XVI.
He is the oldest of six siblings.
He was elevated to the cardinalate by Pope John Paul II in 2003.
