Most their for his role as Bernie Scripps on the ITV series Heartbeat. He is also notable for his work in several BBC Television Shakespeare productions, as well as for his roles in the popular series Doctor Who: Terminus and All Creatures Great and Small.
Early in his career, he appeared in episodes of Churchill's People and Trinity Tales.
His film credits include roles in Tess (directed by Roman Polanski) and Excalibur (directed by John Boorman).
He was born and raised in England; little else about his family life has been made public.
In Heartbeat, he played the half-brother of Geoffrey Hughes' character Vernon Scripps.
