His third release, Nightcrawler, was the final piece of his musical trilogy; he said in interviews that the three albums were just different phases.
He was born in Montville, New Jersey; his mother was a real estate agent and his father was a dentist.
In 2009 he and actress Scarlett Johansson collaborated on an album project called Break Up.
