About

Singer, guitarist, and songwriter who rose to fame during the late 1960s and early 1970s. A founding member of the popular English rock band Badfinger, he wrote and performed such hits as "Day After Day" and "Baby Blue."

Before Fame

He founded a Welsh band called The Iveys (or, originally, The Panthers) in 1961. The band, which was later signed to the Beatles' label, was re-named Badfinger in 1969.

Trivia

Two albums containing his previously un-released material -- Golders Green and Seven Park Avenue-- were released posthumously in the late 1990s.

Family Life

He committed suicide at the age of twenty-seven, while expecting his first child. His daughter Petera was born just a month after his death.

Associated With

He helped write "Without You," singer Harry Nilsson's international hit ballad.
