Pete Depaolo
Race Car Driver
Open-wheel racer who won the 1925 Indianapolis 500, and was posthumously inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 1995.
He witnessed his first race in 1919; three years later, he was competing in the Indy 500.
He retired in 1934, following an 11-day crash-caused coma.
His uncle, Ralph DePalma, was a very successful racer.
Following his racing days, he had a short but successful stint as a NASCAR team owner, where he led many great drivers, including Buck Baker.
