Spanish Formula Ford 1600 champion in 1990; he began competing in Formula One in 1999, placing sixth in his debut race, the Australian Grand Prix.
He raced remote-controlled cars, winning the European Federation of Radio Operated Model Automobiles World Championship in 1983 and 1984.
He finished fifth in the 2005 Bahrain Grand Prix but recorded the fastest lap in the race.
He grew up in Barcelona, Spain.
He raced alongside Eddie Irvine on Jaguar Racing from 2001 to 2002.
