Pawan Kumar Chamling
Politician
Politician who began serving as fifth Chief Minister of Sikkim, India in 1994. He founded the Sikkim Democratic Front, a political party that rose to power in the mid 1990s.
He was first elected to the Sikkim Legislative Assembly in 1985 and served as Minister for Industries, Information and Public Relations from 1989 to 1992.
He published a number of works under the name of Pawan Chamling Kiran and won the prestigious Bhanu Puraskar literary prize in 2010.
He married Tika Maya Chamling, with whom he had eight children.
He served under the administration of Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
