Paul Taffanel
Flute Player
French flautist who founded the French Flute School and who worked as a conductor and composer over the course of his career.
He took his first flute lessons from his father at age nine and put on his first concert a year later.
He was the chief conductor at the Paris Opera from 1890 to 1906.
He married Geneviève Deslignières in 1874 and died in Paris in 1908.
In concert he often played works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
