Famous for his role as Butch Dingle on the popular British soap opera Emmerdale this BAFTA Soap Award-winning actor is also notable for his portrayal of Ian Butchers on the ITV series Blue Murder.
At the start of his career, he appeared in single episodes of The Darling Buds of May and Coronation Street.
In 2003, he played the role of Eddie in six episodes of the comedy series I Fought the Law.
He was born and raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Loughran dubbed the voice of Northern Irish Sinn Fein party politician Gerry Adams for several 1980s television broadcasts.
