His career started in the 1980s, after his song "Rain Forest," a funky/electronic hybrid, launched him into the national consciousness.
His music dominated the Jazz Charts. In fact, his song "Touch and Go," a collaboration with his son, became his 10th No. 1 song on the chart.
He fathered three children with his wife Dolores Baker: Maxine, Paul Jr., and Ritchie.
He remixed songs for a variety of artists, including disco great Barry White.
