Country singer who was the first female country singer to sell a million records with her single "I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart."
She studied violin at the University of the West and won a local talent competition for her singing and yodeling, which led to her performance on the radio show Hollywood Breakfast Club.
She was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
She married stage manager Paul Rose and they had two daughters named Beverly and Judy.
She worked with Gene Autry on the film Colorado Sunset.
