He studied mathematics, physics, and fortification engineering at the Academia Julia and the universities of Jena and Leyden.
The Otto von Guericke University of Magdeburg is named after him.
He was born into a patrician family in Magdeburg, Germany.
Like him, Max Planck was a German scientist.
