In 1976, he moved to Buenos Aires and began to study at Luis Tasca's Drama School.
He became a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador in 2009.
He married Viviana Sáez in 1980. The couple had one daughter.
He was once offered the lead role in a production of The Importance of Being Earnest, which was written by Oscar Wilde.
