Osvaldo Golijov
Composer
Grammy Award-winning composer of classical music. His works included his first opera "Ainadamar" from 2003, "Ayre" from 2004, "Azul" from 2006, and "The Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind" from 1994.
He moved to Israel to study at the Jerusalem Rubin Academy in 1983. One of his teachers was the famed Mark Kopytman.
He wrote scores for 'Youth Without Youth' from 2007, 'Tetro' from 2009, 'Twixt' from 2011, and other films by Francis Ford Coppola.
He was born into a Jewish family who raised him in La Plata, Argentina. His father was a physician and his mother was a piano teacher. He married architect Neri Oxman in 2011.
He studied with fellow composer George Crumb at the University of Pennsylvania.
