Oscar V. Peterson
War Hero
Hero of the Battle of the Coral Sea who earned a posthumous Medal of Honor for his bravery during World War II.
He entered the U.S. Navy at age twenty.
His ship, the Neosho, was heavily damaged in the fighting at Coral Sea, and he managed to close four of the ship's bulkhead valves. Unfortunately, he suffered fatal burns in the process.
He was born in Prentice, Wisconsin.
