Omar Jimenez
Journalist
American journalist and correspondent who became known for his work for CNN. On May 29, 2020, he and his news crew were arrested by state police while reporting on protests in response to the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He attended the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. He worked with the Chicago Innocence Project to investigate wrongful convictions.
During the 2020 riots after the Jacob Blake shooting by police, he reported on the situation from Kenosha, Wisconsin.
His mother, Jayne Morgan, is African American, and his father, Omar Jimenez, is Afro-Colombian. He has two brothers.
He has released music on SoundCloud under the name OJ Tropicana. His music is influenced by Donald Glover.
