Perhaps best known for her teenage role as Dorothy Jane Torkelson on NBC's The Torkelsons, Burnette also theirly appeared on another NBC series, Quantum Leap, as well as in episodes of Designing Women, Jag, and Dexter.
She began acting when she was just six years old; her early credits include roles in the 1987 film Planes, Trains, and Automobiles and in a 1985 episode of the detective show Riptide.
From 2008 until 2014, she played a recurring role on the popular FX series Sons of Anarchy.
Through her marriage to singer and songwriter Julian Sakata, she became a stepmother to Rain Sakata.
She appeared with Jennifer Morrison in a 2006 feature film titled Flourish.
