Nuruddin Farah
Novelist
A Somali novelist and Neustadt International Prize recipient, he is best known for his Blood in the Sun trilogy. His other works include From a Crooked Rib (1970) and Territories (2000).
He attended Panjab University in Chandigarh, India before beginning his literary career. His debut novella, Why Die So Soon?, was published in 1965.
He was a perennial nominee for the Nobel Prize in Literature.
He was married to Chitra Muliyil from 1970 to 1972. In 1992, he wed Amina Mama.
Farah and Rachid Boudjedra are both respected writers from the African continent.
