Palestinian-American human rights lawyer, writer, professor, activist, and legal scholar, she is known for being a specialist on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, more specifically in the fields of refugee law, humanitarian law, national security law, and social justice. She co-created the online magazine Jadaliyya in 2010.
She received her Bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 2002 and went on to be a UC Berkeley Human Rights Center Summer Fellow in 2003. She obtained her Juris Doctor from UC Berkeley School of Law in 2005 and her Masters of Law from Georgetown University Law Center, where she graduated from on the Dean's List in 2012.
She has served on various boards and committees including the House of Representatives Oversight Committee, the Institute for Policy Studies, and the Trans-Arab Research Institute.
She is of Palestinian heritage and was born and raised in Alameda County, California. Her motto is "Justicia, Paz, Amor in any language."
