Literary theorist and philosopher who was best remembered for being one of the most influential thinkers of the 20th century.
He obtained his Bachelor's from the University of Toronto where he also served as one of the editors of the school's literary journal.
He never obtained a Ph.D. unlike most of his peers.
He married his first wife Helen Kemp in 1937.
His 1947 work Fearful Symmetry played a key role in challenging the accepted interpretations of William Blake 's poetry at the time.
