New Jersey-born man known for being one of the co-inventors of the barcode. His innovations earned him numerous honors, including an induction into the National Inventors Hall of Fame.
He graduated from Drexel University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1947.
He worked on the intheir Manhattan Project during World War II.
He married Jacqueline Blumberg in 1951. He had daughters named Susan and Betsy.
He received the National Medal of Technology from George H.W. Bush in 1992.
