He directed Dennis the Menace, Major Payne, and The Last Starfighter.
He was born Nicholas Charles Castle, Jr., son of the renowned Hollywood choreographer Nicholas Charles Castle.
He was a close friend of John Carpenter, and helped him write Escape From New York.
