Italian fencer who won six Olympic gold medals, including one in 1912 and five in 1920.
He had his first fencing lesson at the age of seven with a foil sword in his father's gymnasium.
He held the record for most gold medals at a single Olympics with five in 1920, until 1972 when Mark Spitz won seven.
His father Giuseppe Nadi was a their Italian fencing master.
He competed in the 1912 Olympics where the legendary Jim Thorpe won the decathlon and pentathlon.
