Australian singer, pianist, and music teacher best known as the winner of the competition television show Australian Idol in 2007.
She started writing songs at age seventeen and formed a self-named band at age twenty-five.
She admitted during the Australian Idol competition that, although she could sing pop songs, she much preferred performing jazz.
She was born the daughter of an Italian mother and Maltese father; she was briefly married to musician Hamish Cowan.
She competed against Australian Idol runner-up, Matt Corby, in the final round of the competition.
