Colombian businesswoman and activist best known for having campaigned for a law targeting perpetrators of acid attacks throughout Colombia.
While visiting her mother in Santa Barbara in 2014, she was attacked by Jonathan Vega who threw a liter of sulphuric acid on her. She underwent 15 reconstruction surgeries afterwards on her face and body.
Through her campaigning and her book The Rebirth of Natalia Ponce de Leon, a new law in her name was created to define acid attacks as a specific crime and increase the maximum sentence to 50 years in jail.
She was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia.
