Indian IT entrepreneur who co-founded Infosys, an international consulting, technology, and engineering company. He was one of the main originators of outsourcing to India.
He received degrees in engineering from the National Institute of Engineering, University of Mysore, and from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
He was named by Fortune magazine as one of the twelve most important entrepreneurs in the world.
His wife, Sudha Kulkarni Murthy, also worked as an engineer. The couple had two children: Rohan and Akshata.
He and Indian singer Kumar Sanu were both honored with the prestigious Padma Shri by the Indian government.
