After playing professional football for the Oakland Raiders, Minnesota Vikings, and Kansas City Chiefs, this linebacker-turned-politician became a Democratic member of the Illinois State Senate. He began representing his state's fifteenth district in early 2013.
While a student at Northwestern University, he played on both the collegiate football and basketball teams. In 2002, he was a first-round draft to the Oakland Raiders.
He and his wife owned two pizza restaurants in Illinois.
His marriage to Nicole Bunton resulted in two sons.
In 2013, he briefly joined the race to fill Jesse Jackson, Jr.'s seat in the United States Congress.
