Naim Frasheri

Romantic poet associated with the Albanian National Awakening and best known for an 1886 work entitled Bageti e Bujqesi. His early works include patriotic, epic, and lyric poems and translations of French and Greek literature.
He wrote his earliest poems in the Persian language.
He was long considered Albania's national poet.
He was born into a family with connections to an Islamic Sufi order.
His name was given to an Albanian merit award. Mother Teresa was one of several recipients of this honor.
