Myles Horton
Civil Rights Leader
American educator and socialist who influenced most of the Civil Rights Movement leaders including Martin Luther King Jr..
He studied folk schools in Denmark to learn about community empowerment.
In 1932 he cofounded the Highlander Folk School, which notably trained civil rights leader Rosa Parks prior to her historic role in the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
He married and had two children with Zilphia Mae Johnson.
He was called "The Father of the Civil Rights Movement" by James Bevel.
