Murray Gell-mann
Physicist
Physicist who developed the theory of elementary particles and subsequently won the 1969 Nobel Prize for it. He also developed the quark constituents of all hadrons and introduced the sigma model of pions.
He was a child prodigy and began studying at Yale University at age 15.
He was a professor at the Santa Fe Institute, a school which he also helped found.
He had two children with first wife J. Margaret Dow. He married second wife, Marcia Southwick in 1992.
He was given the prestigious Albert Einstein Medal in 2005.
