Sara, a college freshman, is eager to make new friends and her roommate, Rebecca, immediately takes Sara under her wing, but Rebecca soon becomes overprotective and dangerously obsessed with her.

Leighton Meester was originally going to play the role of Sara but switched to play Rebecca. The movie was filmed at the University of Southern California, the University of North Carolina, and Loyola Marymount University.
