A group of strangers head to the secluded Hill House for a study on insomnia. Unfortunately for them, the house is inhabited by a less than friendly entity. 

Trivia

The film is a reimagining of the 1959 novel The Haunting of Hill House. A Netflix series based on the novels, also called The Haunting of Hill House, was released in 2018.
