A renegade FBI agent is tasked with protecting a young autistic boy who has cracked the government's new unbreakable security codes. The boy has the ability to read and decipher the complex MERCURY encryption codes. The film was directed by Harold Becker.

Trivia

The film is an adaptation of Ryne Douglas Pearson's 1996 novel Simple Simon. Actor Bruce Willis received a nomination for the Golden Raspberry for Worst Actor for his performance.
