A bi-centennial vampire, Louis, tells the story of his life that includes, love, betrayal, hunger, death, and immortality. The film is based off the novel of the same name by Anne Rice, who also wrote the screenplay.

The actors playing vampires had to be hung upside down for their makeup to be done. The movie was filmed in Louisiana, Paris, San Francisco, and England.
