This film is a partially fictionalized reenactment of the life of film director James Whale in his final days before his tragic death. He was a soldier in World War II and the director of the 1931 film Frankenstein. 

Trivia

This movie was shot in only twenty-four days. Actors Brendan Fraser and Kevin O'Connor both appeared in the 1998 film The Mummy.
