Trivia

The movie won the 1996 Cannes Film Festival's Best Director Award and was nominated for the Palme d'Or. It earned seven Academy Award nominations, winning two for Best Actress (McDormand) and Best Original Screenplay. The TV series Fargo is loosely based on the film.
