A skeptical graduate student summons a supposed myth known as The Candyman, a murderous soul fit with a hook for a hand. Bernard Rose directed the film from a script from Clive Barker and Steve Golin.

Trivia

The film is based Clive Barker's short story The Forbidden. It spawned sequels called Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh, and Candyman: Day of the Dead.
