He played minor hockey for the Notre Dame Hounds in Wilcox, Saskatchewan.
He won a National Championship in his final season with the Notre Dame Hounds.
His father Andy grew up a Maple Leafs fan.
He has been teammates with fellow Canadian James Reimer in Toronto.
