Mohammad Barakeh

Israeli Arab politician and member of the Knesset for Hadash who is known for his cooperation with Jewish members of parliament. He became the Deputy Speaker of the Knesset in 2003 after first being elected to the Knesset in 1999.
He attended Tel Aviv University where he studied Mathematics.
His decision to join an Israeli delegation in their visit to Auschwitz was controversial but he walked away from the experience with a newfound understanding of the evils that occurred during the Holocaust.
He was born and raised in Israel.
His life has been repeatedly threatened over his willingness to cooperate with Israeli politicians such as Ariel Sharon.
